About the Book51HebgejznL

Title: Castle on the Rise
Author: Kristy Cambron
Genre: Christian Historical Romance
Release date: February 5, 2019
Publisher: HarperCollins
A storied castle. A band of rebels. A nation chasing a centuries-old dream of freedom. And three women who rise above it all . . .
When Laine Forrester travels overseas to attend her best friend’s vineyard wedding, she expects to find the bride on the brink of a fairy tale life. But after a series of unforeseen setbacks, it seems the storybook lives they’d imagined are suddenly ripping apart.
With hopes of resurrecting a happy ending, Laine agrees to accompany the newlyweds to the groom’s home in Ireland—never expecting she’d be the one drawn in by its wide-open moors, backroads bordering the Irish Sea, and a mysterious castle that dares to keep its secrets hidden.
From the storied streets of Dublin to the shores of the Emerald Isle, Laine is drawn in to the land and its rich history. The castle ruins whisper stories of Issy—a photojournalist battling through the 1916 Easter Rising, and Maeve—the castle’s lady of legend, fighting for survival through the 1798 rebellion that started it all.
Spanning more than two centuries, Castle on the Rise unites the legacy of three women who must risk mending the broken places within—for life, love, and the belief that even through the depths of our pain, a masterpiece of a story can emerge.

Tuesday Top Ten

Top Ten List of Books I Want to Read This Summer

I had this idea after reading some blogging tips that were posted in a blogging class I was taking. One of their tips was to have a top ten list on your blog to get  more traffic to your blog through Pinterest. So needless to say I'm gonna give it a try.

My list contains new, old, classic and contemporary. I am really wanting to re-read a series I have and I want to dive into some of the literary classics I haven't read. To some of you this list might seem strange but I'm taking the summer to be different in what I read :-)

10. The Bronte Sisters
Product Details
This one might seem a little odd but I actually read a book by Katherine Reay called The Bronte' Plot and it made me so interested in reading some books by the sisters.

9. To Kill a Mockingbird
Product Details
A classic I have never read. My oldest daughter and I are going to be reading it this summer.
I love the movie though.

8. Lynn Austin's Wonderland Creek
Product Details
If I get a chance to read this book, it will be my first by Lynn. After hearing so many good things about her I really can't wait to read her work. I actually bought several of her books at our library's book sale a few weeks ago, so I have a few to choose from.

7. Ted Dekker's Circle Series
Product Details

I know I'm like the only person on the planet that hasn't read Ted's books, but I'm gonna be honest and say that I'm not so sure if he is my style. I am however going to give this series a try. Who knows? Maybe I'll jump on the Christian Horror/Suspense bandwagon. Is that a thing? Christian horror? Idk?

6. Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly Series
Product DetailsProduct Details
The Love Comes Softly series is the first series in Christian fiction that I read. I love these so much that I want to reread them this summer. I have officially been able to collect all of her books written solely by her and add them to my personal library and I plan on reading each one.

5. The Ringmaster's Wife by Kristy Cambron
Product Details
The first book I ever read by Kristy was A Sparrow in Terezin from her Hidden Masterpiece series and I loved it! She has become one of my new favorite authors since I started reviewing. I can't wait to read this one.

4. The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck
Product Details
Y'all I love Rachel Hauck! I have read the other books in this series but I haven't gotten around to reading this one. I can't wait to crack it open because based on the other books in the series I know it's going to be fabulous. The other books in the series are The Wedding Chapel and The Wedding Shop.

3. The Illusionist's Apprentice
Product Details

Again I love Kristy! This one is her newest book and I'm just as excited about it as all the others.

2. Chautona Havig's None So Blind
Product Details
This book sounded so good to me and I am really glad that I got the opportunity to review it! Can't wait to share my review.

1. The Writing Desk by Rachel Hauck
Product Details
I am SOOOOOOOOO excited about this book!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on this. I will always read anything she has written and I am just chomping at the bit to dive in.

So tell me. What's on your summer reading Top Ten?

2 Year Blogging Anniversary MYSTERY GIVEAWAY!!!! CLOSED Winner is Cindy!

Hey Y'all
So I know its been a while since I had a post abut something other than a book review. We have had a ton of things going on these last few months. Y'all know we moved to Mississippi in June of last year, but we spent several months in a rental house while we remodeled a house we bought. Well that took WAY longer than we thought it would so the last few months of this past year were spent moving and  unpacking and trying to do Thanksgiving and Christmas while all this was going on.  We also were without Internet for 2 months. Now I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, and I really didn't think it would be, But y'all I didn't know what to do with myself. I was struggling to keep my reviews up and I could barely get those done in time. If not for a friend of mine I'd have been sunk.
So long story short or maybe not so short, its been a crazy past few months.

I was watching the Super Bowl  this past Sunday while surfing Facebook (weren't we all) and I saw that my blog anniversary was the day before. I decided after seeing that that'd I'd do a little post about what I've learned these last two years and do a giveaway!

A Sparrow in Terezin by Kristy Cambron--Review

Two women, one in the present day and one in 1942, each hope for a brighter future. But they'll both have to battle through their darkest days to reach it.
Today. With the grand opening of her new gallery and a fairytale wedding months away, Sera James appears to have a charmed life. But in an instant, the prospect of a devastating legal battle surrounding her fiancé threatens to tear her dreams apart. Sera and William rush to marry and are thrust into a world of doubt and fear as they defend charges that could separate them for life.

June 1942. After surviving the Blitz bombings that left many Londoners with shattered lives, Kája Makovsky prayed for the war to end so she could return home to Prague. But despite the horrors of war, the gifted journalist never expected to see a headline screaming the extermination of Jews in work camps. Half-Jewish with her family in danger, Kája has no choice but to risk everything to get her family out of Prague. But with the clutches of evil all around, her escape plan crumbles into deportation, and Kája finds herself in a new reality as the art teacher to the children of Terezin.

Bound by a story of hope and the survival of one little girl, both Sera and Kája will fight to protect all they hold dear.

My thoughts:Suspense, romance, love, friendship and forgiveness all of these things and more are found in this book! Kristy takes you on a ride to the past and brings it to life like nothing I have seen before. The vivid pictures she brings to your mind through each seen will leave you wanting the next chapter and then the next. This was my first time reading one of Kristy's books and I couldn't put it down. Her characters are so lifelike and I felt as if I were right there in the middle of every scene and every place that the book takes you. This book spoke to my heart and desire to know more about the holocaust and World War 2. I was overcome by grief, joy and love all in what seemed like the same chapter! The lives of Kaja and Sera intertwine beautifully throughout the book. This book is the second book in the series but it reads well as a standalone. I understood the hints about the first book easily and it only made me want to read the first book more. You will definitely not be sorry for buying this book. It's well worth the money.
I received this book through the booklookbloggers.com blogger program in exchange for my review. A positive review was not required.
