The Christmas Admirer by Laura V. Hilton

christmas admirer facebook banner copy

Christmas admirer
Benaiah Troyer has loved Susanna King for as long as he can remember, but when his parents died in an accident a year ago, he broke up with her—for her own good. After all, he was now the sole caregiver for his three younger sisters. What woman would want to put up with that? Still, against his better judgment, he can’t help leaving her a gift now and then, anonymously addressing her name in big block print, just to catch a smile. Roses one month, maple syrup candy another; and maybe this time, something special for Christmas.
Susanna has never gotten over losing Benaiah, but now the clock is ticking. Her father is selling his glass-blowing business, remarrying in January, and moving to Iowa with his bossy wife-to-be. Angry and frustrated, Susanna realizes she’s left with three options: one, go with Daed to his new home with a new mom; two, stay in Jamesport, Missouri, as an old maid; or, three, the best yet, flush out her mysterious secret admirer. But how could she be with anyone else when her heart is still with Benaiah?

The Beloved Hope Chest by Amy Clipston GIVEAWAY!!!

beloved hope chest-banner

I don't think it's any secret that I LOVE Amish Christian fiction. I'm not sure why but ever since I read The Redemption of Sarah Cain by Beverly Lewis, I have loved Amish fiction. I think part of the reason is because I am fascinated by the thought of living off the grid, so to speak. So anyway I like Amish fiction.

Now this particular series was not my favorite overall. There were just things about it I didn't like. I'm thinking it was mostly the writing style. These really didn't flow for me like other Amish books have. Now to talk about what I thought of this book.

Here is what I thought...........
I absolutely loved this book! I stayed up all night reading it.  I couldn't put it down.  It is some of the best Amish fiction i have read in a while.  This story is very realistic and believable.  I would have never thought of some of the situations taking place in this book but they are very much something that could happen to the Amish.  I loved all the characters in the book.  Each one was a perfect addition to the book.  The surprises that happen at the end were very well done.  Although, I did have somewhat of an idea what the twist was about 3/4s of the way through.  An absolutely fabulous book that is sure to please, both Amish fiction lovers and those who aren't.  I received this book from the fiction guild. A positive review wasn't required.  All opinions are my own.

Here is what I thought.......
I really enjoyed this book! It's very fun and enjoyable as well as somewhat exciting and mysterious.  I enjoyed all the characters and found myself very involved in the story.  I couldn't put the book down cause I wanted to know what was going to happen.  I couldn't wait to know the end and find out where all of the twist and turns were going.  Jen has done a fine job of writing this contemporary story. If  you enjoy her historical work then you will most definitely enjoy this.  I even think those who might not be a fan of her historical will enjoy this. Ididn't have anything that I found as a negative in the book. I was very pleased with this book and can't wait to read the next one! I received this book from celebrate lit for free.  a positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.

The Wish by Beverly Lewis

Leona Speicher got the "sister" she'd always dreamed of the day Gloria Gingerich and her family moved to Lancaster County Amish farmland. The Arkansas newcomers seem to be everything a devout Plain family should be, and Leona can't help comparing Gloria's engaging young parents to her own.

Leona's cousin shows a romantic interest in Gloria around the same time as Gloria's older brother expresses his fondness for Leona--it seems likely the two young women will marry into each other's families, remaining close friends for life. Thus, Leona is shocked when the Gingeriches suddenly pack up and disappear after being expelled from the church for reasons no one will discuss. Despite Leona's pleas, Gloria goes with them, leaving more than one broken heart behind.

When Gloria unexpectedly contacts Leona after a silence of several years, Leona makes up her mind to persuade her friend to return to Lancaster County and the Amish ways. Leona's fiancé, the deacon's son, is alarmed when Leona decides to go after Gloria. Will Leona's dearest wish lead to her own undoing?

About the Author

Here is what I thought......
Well Kathleen has done it again! I loved the first book in this series and I am pleased to say I loved this one too. This book really touched on honesty, forgiveness and compassion. I enjoyed all the characters in this book. Even the supposed "bad guy." I found myself feeling the compassion for the offender and wanting him to be forgiven. Joanna and Andrew were a very believable couple and I felt that their problems were real. I always like reading Amish fiction and Kathleen has become one of my favorites. I love the way Kathleen writes because even though there may not be any mystery to the story she keeps you captivated and interested and it keeps you reading. I am so much looking forward to reading the next in the series. I received this book from the fiction guild in exchange for my honest review.  A positive review was not required.

Amish Quilts Coloring Book by Rachel J. Good

Amish Quilts Coloring BOOK coverFeeling stressed? Why not relax with an adult coloring book? Rachel J. Good’s Amish Quilts Coloring Book takes you back to a time and place that’s calm. Immerse yourself in a world of peace as you color the 25 different quilts.
Inspired by quilts seen in Amish country, many of these designs are based on traditional patterns, but some have been reimagined or repeated multiple times to create more intricate designs to color. Each quilt is printed on only one side of the page; facing pages contain inspirational Amish proverbs. To make the quilts even more colorful and interesting, sketch fabric designs – plaids, checks, paisleys, flowers, or abstract shapes – into the larger quilt blocks, use pattern stamps, or even collage fabric scraps to the pages. And if the designs inspire you to make quilts of your own, the pages can be used as templates for quilt-making.

Working alongside Aden at the store, Sadie realizes he isn’t the same boy who once betrayed her. Just when Sadie starts to let her guard down and perhaps develop feelings for her new husband, dangerous secrets are revealed.
