My Thoughts
Reading a book that starts in the middle of a story doesn't sound like the best idea in the world but surprisingly this book reads well with or without reading the previous books in the series. Coming in where I did on Emmie's story actually seemed to put me right in the middle of the most important part of her story. Almost as if the book I chose put me right at the cliff hanger, nail biter section. I enjoyed this book very much! Finding out what I did about Emmie in this book made me want to read the previous books to see what I'd missed. Starting where I did didn't ruin anything for me or leave me confused, it only made me want to read more. I must say I was impressed with Colleen's writing and can't wait to read more by her. I would most definitely recommend reading these in order (even though I didn't) but if you do decide to randomly pick up one of these books in this series you won't be disappointed. However, you will most definitely be left wanting more! I can't wait to read the rest of this series to see what becomes of Emmie.
I received this book from the publisher through the book look blogger review program in exchange for my review. A positive review was not required.
Hey Rachel, I haven't read any of Colleen's books yet. Do these have a Downton Abby type of feel? My colleagues adore that series. Along with Poldark. :) I don't tend to be drawn to historical romances (I'm more of a contemporary gal), but the few I've read have really had sweeping story lines that I've enjoyed being a part of. Sounds like this one really swept you in too. Glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteNot Downton Abby like (although I do LOVE that show) this is more the cavalry fighting the Indians era. I can do almost any historical romance but my all time favorite era is WWII. Thanks Crystal for your comment. Hope you enjoy the blog.
