Here is what I thought......

I got this Bible because I am always looking for better ways to study the Bible. I am fascinated with apologetics and learning more about my faith and what I believe. I have enjoyed digging into the little nuggets that are placed on several random pages throughout the scripture. I like the layout and how much information is packed inside. It is a hardback which isn't my favorite but it is pleasing to the eye and seems sturdy.

Ok I listed all of the things I liked, now for the not so great stuff. I always have a few scriptures that I use to check a translation for credibility when I am looking at it. I look at Genesis 1, John 1:1 and Luke 1:26. There are plenty more to look up but these are just some of my go to ones that I look up. So, how did the CSB measure up to my test? Well, I'm gonna call it a solid 2 out of 3. John 1:1 and Luke 1:26 were fine but Genesis 1 was a bit of a miss to me. I believe that the Bible is literal. Therefore, Genesis 1 is speaking about a literal day in a literal week. Reading the CSB I felt as if they were trying to imply that creation was not quite that literal. Now that is my feeling on that passage but it did bother me enough to mention it. Also, there is an article on creation and how old the world really is. The article explains the sides of two groups of creation beliefs. It went through to explain the beliefs of both sides but in the end I really felt like it pretty much said you could believe what you want and again skirted around the literality of scripture.

Overall the apologetics part of this Bible seems awesome. The translation for me though, is leaving something to be desired.
