Not By Sight by Kate Breslin

With Britain caught up in WWI, Jack Benningham, heir to the Earl of Stonebrooke, has declared himself a conscientious objector. Instead, he secretly works for the Crown by tracking down German spies on British soil, his wild reputation and society status serving as a foolproof cover.

Blinded by patriotism and concern for her brother on the front lines, wealthy suffragette Grace Mabry will do whatever it takes to assist her country's cause. When she sneaks into a posh London masquerade ball to hand out white feathers of cowardice, she never imagines the chain of events she'll set off when she hands a feather to Jack.

And neither of them could anticipate the extent of the danger and betrayal that follows them--or the faith they'll need to maintain hope.

My Thoughts
What an amazing book! This book had me captivated from page 1. I couldn't believe how quickly I was drawn in to the story. With it's WWI backdrop and filled with romance and spies and the beautiful landscape of England, it's a book that is sure to please.

Grace Mabry is a young suffragette who fears for her brother whos is serving in the Army. She wants to do all she can to help the soldiers overseas fighting the war. Jack Benningham is what some may only see as a spoiled aristocrat who has somehow managed to not serve his country in the armed forces. After a chance encounter with Grace at a masquerade ball, an exciting turn of events will take you on a ride you won't want to stop.

This book was fantastic. I have no idea how I haven't read anything by Kate before. The story takes off right from the beginning and never really stops until the end. I was very impressed that it kept my attention and I never got bored. There is a very strong mystery thread that makes you keep turning pages. The romance is there too but it is very subtle, almost like a friendship that turns into romance. There are also a few stories that belong to the supporting characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat as well. There is a lot going on in this book, but I never felt confused or overwhelmed. The only negative, albeit a small one is, I figured out a key part to the story about half way through. Even though this happened I was still completely devoted the story and wanted to see how it all played out.

I am so glad I read this book and I can't wait to read more from Kate! Thank you to TBCN and the publisher for the chance to review this book. A positive review was not required.
