My Top Five

Ok so I know I have posted a lot this week but I came up with this idea to give y'all a top five of the best books I have read. I thought I might do this ever so often, to give y'all some options to fill your reading lists. I am going back to my younger years with these. These are the books that first turned me on to adult Christian fiction.

1)  Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke
This book was probably the first adult christian fiction that I read growing up and to this day this is probably still my favorite. Here is a complete list of this series:
1) Love Comes Softly
2) Love's Enduring Promise
3) Love's Long Journey
4) Love's Abiding Joy
5) Love's Unending Legacy
6) Love's Unfolding Dream
7) Love Takes Wing
8) Love Finds a Home

2) Roses For Mama by Janette Oke

This is another one of my favorites and yes it is by the same author. This one touched my heart as a sister with younger siblings and again still one of my all time favorites.

3) Nana's Gift by Janette Oke
Same author I know, but once you start reading her stuff you won't be able to stop!

4)  Saint Ben by John Fischer
Get your Kleenex box out for this one! This is an amazing story of true friendship and learning how to fill the Jesus shaped hole in our hearts. Be for warned you will cry! There is also a second book to this called The Saints and Angels Song, which is also a good read. I had trouble finding his online so if you find it, snatch it up!

5) Seasons of Grace Series by Beverly Lewis

This is a fantastic series by Beverly Lewis. I read this within the last year or two and I couldn't put it down. I was at my library everyday trying to get the next one, because I wanted so much to see what was going to happen. This is a three book series. The Titles are:
1) The Secret
2) The Missing
3) The Telling

These are some awesome books I hope you will try as I know I have several friends searching for new books to read. The best part about all of these books is you don't have to wait for the next in the series to come out. These are oldies but goodies and they are sure to please.

Happy reading, y'all!

A Review From My Mini Me

My daughter Elizabeth has recently read a book by author Miralee Ferrell. She was asked to give a review of the book, So I thought I would post it here as well.

A horse of her own would be awesome. But Kate figures that might be a long way away, especially since she had to give up riding lessons and move to her late grandfather’s farm. Besides, it would be a lot more fun to have a best friend to ride with. When Kate discovers a barn on their new farm that’s perfect for a horse, and a dusty bridle too, she starts to think that her dream might come true. Then she meets Tori at school, who is totally the best. So when they discover a thoroughbred that appears to be all alone, could it be the answer to her prayers? Maybe. If she can convince her dad … and figure out what’s going on with that horse.

Elizabeth's thoughts: This book is about a girl named Kate who has had to move to a new town and she isn't very happy about. But when she gets there she ends up finding a new friend in a girl named Tori. She has always wanted a horse and this new farm would be perfect for a one. Can she convince her parents to allow her to have one?
I thought this book was written very well and was easy to read. It kept my attention and I finished it very quickly. I enjoyed all the characters, but my favorite character was Pete. Pete is Kate's brother and he has autism. Pete Doesn't talk much, but he has an adventurous side.  I had so much fun reading this book, that I can't wait for the other three in the series to be released! I would highly recommend this book to any girl who loves to read.

Elizabeth was given a complimentary copy of this book to review. She was not required to give a positive reveiw.

Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury--A Review

Joey lives an idyllic life with his parents on the coast of Florida. His days are spent playing with his cousins, sailing with his dad, and making up stories with his mom.

It's a perfect life until the day they receive a disturbing phone call: a stranger's decision could tear Joey away from the comfort and security of the only home he's ever known.

One family is determined to keep the son they love, the other is determined to begin a new life, the life they've always dreamed of. Joey's future rests in their hands and someone must make the bravest decision of their life.

Sometimes the greatest love is letting go.

Karen Kingsbury is America’s favorite inspirational novelist. There are nearly 25 million copies of her award-winning books in print, including several million copies sold in the past year. Karen’s most recent of her Life-Changing Fiction TM titles have hit No. 1 national lists. Karen is also a public speaker, reaching more than 100,000 women annually through various national events. Karen lives and works in Nashville, Tenn., with her husband, Don, and their five sons, three of whom were adopted from Haiti. Also living nearby is their only daughter, Kelsey, an actress in inspirational films and married to Christian recording artist Kyle Kupecky.

My Thoughts:Karen Kingsbury has once again drawn me into a life that isn't my own.
She makes you feel the emotions of each character in this book.
The book begins with seemingly the perfect family, but they are missing one thing.
A relationship with Jesus.
As the story unfolds you see how only Christ can truly satisfy your need for comfort, love and peace in the midst of trouble.

Jack and Molly Campbell are the only parents Joey has ever known. they face a situation most parents only have nightmares about. How will they handle the struggle that is thrown at them?

Wendy Porter regrets something she did years ago. Will her decision to tell the truth ruin the lives of the Campbells forever?

Rip Porter is fresh out of prison and has convinced Wendy he is a new man, but is he?

Beth Petty is Molly's sister. She would do anything to help or protect her sister, but can she truly trust God to have his will and way in her sister's life?

Allyson Bower is a proud of the job she does as a social worker until a phone call comes that could change the way she feels.

What I love about this book: This book is an excellent example of what it means to fully trust in God's will for your life. Can you control the events in your life or do you truly believe that Christ does have a will and a way in your life? It brings to light the struggle and fear that every adoptive parent must have at one point or another in the adoption process. I was captivated by the intensity of the struggles that each character faced as the story progressed. Even the social worker dealt with the concept of God's will and if he can preform miracles. This book had me so mesmerized with the struggles of the Campbells that I truly thought they might take a wrong turn. This book is enjoyable on many levels because you go from believing the worst to being just as surprised as the characters are by the events that take place. This book was an excellent read and I highly recommend it.

Excited About Book Reviewing

I am so excited about reviewing books that I read. I just finished Karen Kingsbury's "Like Dandelion Dust" and I am excited to review it. I will be posting a review later. This review isn't for any purpose other than to let you all know what I thought about the book and to practice my reviewing skills. Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors, so I think you might be surprised a little bit by what I thought of the book. I will also be doing a giveaway soon so stay tuned!
