A Heart's Promise By Colleen Coble

Emmie makes a promise to her friend that, if fulfilled, could mean the end to her dreams of a future with Isaac.
Emmie Croftner let Isaac Liddle go to avoid telling him about her past. But Isaac remains determined to win Emmie’s heart and hand. Though Emmie resolves to keep her heart in check, it hurts when she sees that another woman has set her bonnet for Isaac.
Then Emmie’s dear friend extracts a costly promise: if anything happens to her in childbirth, Emmie will marry her widower and raise the baby herself. And it seems Emmie may have to fulfill that promise. But can she live happily without Isaac?

My Thoughts
Reading a book that starts in the middle of a story doesn't sound like the best idea in the world but surprisingly this book reads well with or without reading the previous books in the series. Coming in where I did on Emmie's story actually seemed to put me right in the middle of the most important part of her story. Almost as if the book I chose put me right at the cliff hanger, nail biter section. I enjoyed this book very much! Finding out what I did about Emmie in this book made me want to read the previous books to see what I'd missed. Starting where I did didn't ruin anything for me or leave me confused, it only made me want to read more. I must say I was impressed with Colleen's writing and can't wait to read more by her. I would most definitely recommend reading these in order (even though I didn't) but if you do decide to randomly pick up one of these books in this series you won't be disappointed. However, you will most definitely be left wanting more! I can't wait to read the rest of this series to see what becomes of Emmie.
I received this book from the publisher through the book look blogger review program in exchange for my review. A positive review was not required.

  1. Hey Rachel, I haven't read any of Colleen's books yet. Do these have a Downton Abby type of feel? My colleagues adore that series. Along with Poldark. :) I don't tend to be drawn to historical romances (I'm more of a contemporary gal), but the few I've read have really had sweeping story lines that I've enjoyed being a part of. Sounds like this one really swept you in too. Glad you liked it.

    1. Not Downton Abby like (although I do LOVE that show) this is more the cavalry fighting the Indians era. I can do almost any historical romance but my all time favorite era is WWII. Thanks Crystal for your comment. Hope you enjoy the blog.
